Survival of the Sounds

Survival of the sounds was a 2 day game prototype with the theme of “Sound”.
We took the theme and used it as the core feature of the game.
The way the game works is, the audio track for the game is split up into 4 channels, the bass (blue), the synths (green), the percussions (orange), and the effects (purple).

At any time during the track that a channel is above the set volume or ‘spawning threshold’, that speakers of that colour will spawn an enemy (up to 5 enemies per second for each channel).
The enemies size represents the amount of health it spawns with, which is determined by how high the sound for its channel is when it spawns. For extra clarity, we made it so that if the sound is above a second thresh hold, it would spawn from the middle larger speaker, and if it was below the second thresh hold, it would spawn from the smaller left and right speakers, so that it was easier to understand some being bigger than others
